CIAC Community Service Day with Make-A-Wish

This project is being led by LSU’s Construction Industry Advisory Council (CIAC) and the Construction Student Association (CSA) on behalf of Make-A-Wish Texas Gulf Coast & Louisiana. Through this partnership, we’re giving back to our local community while creating a space that will bring Brant joy for years to come!

What We’ll Be Doing

On October 10th, CIAC and CSA volunteers will come together to prepare Brant’s backyard for his new adaptive play space. The workday will include:

• Setting posts for the swingset and outdoor musical instruments

• Prepping/Digging an earth-formed sidewalk

What to Bring

Please bring any of the following if you can:

• Shovels (flathead and spade)

• Gloves

• Wheelbarrows

• Sunscreen

Work Sessions

We’ll break the day into two sessions so folks can choose a time that works best for them (or stay with us for the full day!):

• Morning Session: 7:00 – 11:00 AM

• Afternoon Session: 11:30 – 3:30 PM

• Lunch Provided Between Sessions

• Concrete Sponsor: HRM has offered to donate the concrete material, and IKON will be providing the labor and miscellaneous material to form, place and finish the concrete once our volunteers prepare the site!

• Small Tools Sponsor: Thank you, DSLD Homes, for supplying our volunteers with the wheelbarrows, shovels, and other small tools so we aren't digging by (literally) hand!

• Equipment Sponsor: Equipment Share will be providing us with a skid steer and mini-excavator to assist with the spoils.

• Equipment Sponsor: Sunbelt Rentals is providing us with a sod cutter to make it a little easier on the shovelers!
